Scope of the Role
Playing Captain
A Playing Captain functions both as a Relationship Manager (RM) and a Team Leader. This dual role involves directly managing a portfolio of HNW/UHNW clients while also leading a team of Private Bankers. The individual is expected to drive both personal and team-level revenue, ensuring optimal client service and performance.
Non-Playing Captain
A Non-Playing Captain acts as a strategic coach and senior leader. This role is purely team-focused, overseeing a group of senior Private Bankers and Playing Captains. Responsibilities include mentoring, performance management, strategic planning, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities (applicable to both roles)
Build and maintain long-term relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients.
Understand clients’ financial goals and provide tailored wealth management solutions.
Offer investment advisory, portfolio management, and risk management services.
Cross-sell a full suite of banking products including loans, deposits, insurance, and investments.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., investment advisors, credit, legal, compliance) to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
Monitor client portfolios and provide ongoing strategic guidance and performance updates.
Conduct client due diligence, KYC, and risk assessments in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Stay abreast of market trends, financial instruments, and regulatory developments.
Ideal Candidates
The candidate (whether a Playing or Non-Playing Captain) should ideally join the new firm along with their current team of experienced Private Bankers and Relationship Managers.
Alternatively, they must have the ability to identify, attract, and onboard high-performing RMs from within the private banking industry.
Must take full ownership of the team’s P&L, ensuring that RMs are equipped to manage clients independently while meeting business and compliance objectives.
Demonstrated leadership in building teams, driving revenue growth, and establishing strong client relationships in the private banking space.
