Scope of the Role
The Specialist will play a key role in implementing the RBI Expected Credit Loss / Effective Interest Rate [ ECL/EIR ] Framework and related accounting requirements under the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Asset Classification, Provisioning and Income Recognition) Directions, 2026. The role will be responsible for driving finance function deliverables related to Effective Interest Rate (EIR), Fair Value Expected Credit Loss (ECL), and financial reporting requirements.
In addition to project implementation responsibilities, the candidate will support the Finance function in financial reporting, profitability analysis, management reporting, accounting advisory, regulatory compliance and stakeholder management, including coordination with auditors and consultants.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities Job Title : Specialist – IFRS 9 / Ind AS 109 Implementation Department : Finance & Planning Department
Implementation of EIR/ECL guidelines.:
- Act as the Finance Department's subject matter expert for implementation of RBI ECL, EIR and Fair Valuation requirements.
- Work closely with external consultants, Risk Management, IT, Treasury, Business and Operations teams to ensure successful implementation of the RBI guidelines.
- Design, review and validate EIR methodologies for various products and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and report financial statement impact arising from ECL, EIR and fair valuation requirements.
- Support formulation and implementation of accounting policies, methodologies and governance frameworks relating to ECL, EIR and fair valuation.
- Analyze accounting implications of model outputs and devise the accounting treatment to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Steer the requirement gathering, business specification preparation, system configuration reviews, testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Review implementation of EIR and fair valuation methodologies in Ind AS 109 tool and ensure alignment with accounting policies.
- Support dry run, parallel run and transition activities leading to regulatory go-live.
- Coordinate with project consultants to ensure timely completion of deliverables and adherence to project milestones.
- Assist in preparation of Board, Audit Committee and senior management presentations relating to ECL/EIR implementation
Financial Reporting & Accounting:
- Preparation and review of standalone and consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, RBI regulations and disclosure requirements.
- Design / Review accounting architecture of existing / new products and provide accounting guidance to business and support functions.
- Assess accounting / financial reporting implications of new products, transactions, regulatory changes and strategic initiatives.
- Support implementation of new accounting standards, accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical accounting notes, position papers and management memoranda on significant accounting matters.
MIS, Analytics and Management Reporting:
- Prepare profitability analysis and performance reports for senior management.
- Develop and maintain management information systems and financial dashboards.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning exercises.
- Track key financial performance-related metrics and present findings to management.
Project & Transformation Support:
- Provide accounting and finance expertise in various bank-wide transformation and technology projects
- Review business requirements, accounting impact assessments and process changes proposed under new initiatives.
- Liaise with technology teams for implementation of finance-related system enhancements.
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives within the Finance function.

Audit, Regulatory & Stakeholder Management.:
- Act as a key liaison with Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors and Regulatory Inspectors.
- Coordinate audit requirements relating to EIR, Fair valuation, and other aspects related to financial reporting.
- Respond to audit observations and ensure timely closure of issues.
- Support submission of regulatory information and disclosures.

Ideal Candidates
Looking for Chartered Accountants with relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services, and global consulting/audit firms. Candidate must have strong experience in Financial Reporting and Accounting under Ind AS / IFRS. Hands-on experience in implementation or audit of:
- Effective Interest Rate (EIR)
- Fair Valuation Framework
- Expected Credit Loss (ECL)
- Other computation and disclosure requirements as per Ind AS 109 / IFRS 9
- Exposure to large-scale regulatory or finance transformation projects.
Technical / Behavioural Competencies
- Deep understanding of Ind AS / IFRS, particularly in Ind AS 109 / IFRS 9
- Working knowledge of EIR-based accounting and discounted cash flow-based fair valuation.
- Working knowledge of ECL computation and accounting.
- Strong financial statement preparation and disclosure expertise.
- Working knowledge of data analytics and finance systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management and execution capability.
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight timelines.
- Exposure to OFSAA Loan Loss Forecasting and Provisioning (LLFP) will be an added advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel. Working knowledge in SQL will be an added advantage.
